Dear Stephen, Thank you very much for your kind words in your edit note, “Different Team, Same Goal” in the most recent edition of Generation. I passed it around the locker room and it served as inspiration for our 6-0 defeat of the Atlanta Thrashers on Thursday. Drew Stafford was particularly touched by your praise—in fact, I think you were the reason he was fired up enough to fight Ilya Kovalchuk. On behalf of the entire Sabres organization, I would like to extend to you an invitation to try out for the team. Despite the fact that you have absolutely no experience playing hockey, and can’t really skate all that well, we are sure that, based on your superior writing ability, you will make a fantastic addition to our team. Rick Jeanerette also invited you to be his broadcast partner, based on your keen hockey insight and sharp wit. Please consider this invitation and get back to me at your earliest convenience. I would also like to inform you that I am instating a scholarship in honor of your awesomeness for up-and-coming young hockey stars. The Stephen Boyd Young Hockey Achievers Award will surely preserve the memory of your greatness in the Sabres organization for years to come. If you would ever like tickets to a game in my own personal seats or would like to accompany the team on any of our outings to Chippewa or other locales, please do not hesitate to call, fax, write, or just show up. I look forward to hearing from you. Your friend, Ryan Miller
