Loneliness in the Face of Adversity

Two dogs cross

the street as the light

changes

slowly

from

green to

yellow

to red.

You watch them

trotting calmly

like two

strange looking

horses in love.

Their fur mangled and tousled,

too much

color on their faces

to know

just what they

might

be thinking at

that very distinct

moment.

You forget

to think about

moving

your foot

from the brake

over to the

——————- accelerator.

You feel the impact of the

world crushing into

empty space.

Not knowing whether

to laugh like a child

or cry like an old woman,

you

let your emotions

slowly drain

from inside

(you).

Underneath

your skin

is a lot of life

worth saving.

So let yourself

be released

back

into the

overwhelming

sadness and love

you have been

avoiding..
