What Women Need

What 99 percent of women want is quite obvious—Empty, detailed compliments. Sure, we might get annoyed if we hear someone whistle or say “You’re hot.”  Not because we don’t like compliments; quite on the contrary, women love them, however, we tend to hate the ones that lack detail. For instance, if someone we are eyeing says, “You look so hot when you walk from English to chemistry class, deep in your trail of thought.” we can’t help but smile. That same smile will lead us into a compulsive psycho-analysis, mentally taking the guy apart, inside-out. Most of us will think, “Wow, he is so attentive, and it’s true, I do think a lot when I am walking from class to class...I wonder what else he finds amazing about me.” If you are one of us, I apologize to burst your bubble and inform you that you’re probably just zoned out in the hallways and he is just good at giving empty, detailed compliments. And you probably are amazing; more than likely though, he doesn’t know.

The real question is, what do women need? I believe I have found the answer. What women really need is a reality check. Statistically speaking, men lie about 90 percent of the time. The least you can do as a female is not lie to yourself by believing them. Wake up, and the next time a guy gives you a compliment, look at yourself as an investment, which is more than likely the way he sees you. What will he get out of investing an empty detailed compliment? Attention? A kiss, or more? Guys love attention just as much as we do, although they will never admit it.

Of course, there are exceptions to this. If you have been in a long committed relationship with your boyfriend, and he still says things like, “Wow, you look so beautiful when you blah blah blah, and your hair is blah blah blah...,” he might actually be genuine. Personally, I’ve never had such an experience, so as far as I am concerned they are nonexistent. The truth is, you’re better off telling yourself the things you want to hear. Have fun, play along with them, but don’t believe them until they consistently prove that their actions are just as worthy of your smile as their words. Until then, smile because you probably really are amazing!
