The Goons Of Hedsor Hall

The Girls of Hedsor Hall

Riddle me this: What do you get when take 12 hussies with drinking problems, a mansion somewhere in England, and Donald Trump’s seal of approval? Give up? You get the newest MTV reality show, entitled The Girls of Hedsor Hall. Some producer at MTV had this amazing “original” idea to take 12 of America’s biggest party gals and ship them off to a finishing school somewhere in England with hopes to turn them all into ladies. Each week one of these girls is sent home because she doesn’t quite measure up to the standards of Hedsor Hall. In the end, two girls will remain, winning the grand prize of $100,000 as well as dignity... I mean, the title of being a Graduate of Hedsor Hall and a certified Lady. At Hedsor Hall, the girls have to learn everything from proper etiquette in how to hold a conversation, to preparing flower bouquets. Weird, I could have sworn I heard this concept for a show before. Oh right, VH-1 did the same exact thing twice with their show Charm School. Charm School has a similar concept where they take about a dozen of the sloppiest girls from their reality dating shows and try to make them into ladies. Anyways, back to Hedsor Hall. Two episodes have aired so far, showing how much chaos these girls looking for sobriety and the concept of wearing underwear can create.

In the premiere episode, the girls arrive at Hedsor Hall, where they are greeted by ex-panty-dropper and professional partier Tara Conners. Conners is most memorable for the controversy surrounding her crown when she won the title of Miss USA in 2006. Soon after, the girls delightfully meet the two headmistresses who hiss the rules of Hedsor Hall at them in their thick British accents. The American party princesses are then shuffled off into the parlor room of the mansion, where they are requested to get to know one another. Not even seven minutes in, and the girls are already beginning to indulge in catfights. One of the cast members, Margi, attempts to insult some of the other cast members by questioning whether she’s a male or female. With that being said, the girls all went at it, with hair pulling and obnoxious screams, until one of the headmistresses came in and demanded that they all settle down. As the episode progresses, the girls are subjected to etiquette lessons and are given new school-girl outfits equipped with a crappy string of pearls.

This show is so cliché it hurts my soul, but it’s actually not so bad thus far. The drama is real, the tears are real, and lastly, the yearning for sobriety is real as well. Nothing is funnier than watching that typical party girl that you encounter every weekend at your favorite bar become deprived of her favorite thong and bottle of Jack. Like all reality shows, this one will provide its viewers with a surplus of drama, girls going through penis withdrawal, and of course fine British culture. If this is what you look for in an entertaining reality show, catch The Girls of Hedsor Hall on Saturdays at 12p.m. on MTV.

The Girls of Hedsor Hall is highly recommended to anyone who enjoys people-watching in U-Hots on a late Thursday night.
