Nowadays, the rap/rock phenomenon is a very common thing, with artists like Limp Bizkit, P.O.D, Papa Roach, and Rage against the Machine standing as the genre’s definitive acts. You can now officially add (hed) Planet Earth to that list. It seemed obvious that this group would become known after its explosive self-titled debut album a few years ago. They’ve picked the perfect time to come out with their second album, Broke, and I must say, it has been well worth the wait. Loud guitars are needed for any hard rock band, and (hed) Planet Earth provides plenty. The guitars are really turned up for the choruses, which are certain to send concert goers into a frenzy. They are mellowed, however, for the verses, allowing the listener to focus more on lead singer Jahred’s vocals. His vocal style is impressive because he raps, sings, screams, and yells in almost every song. This unusual mixture of vocal styles adds more flavor to the album. They also help to enhance the harmonious aspects of the album. Overall, the album is filled with songs that will turn any place into a mosh pit. The rhymes, singing, and beats will keep you listening through the finale. For a good time and something to play loud, definitely purchase this album!
