When it comes to punk records in WNY, you can Sit and Spin, buddy. Located on Transit road, they have to be the best thing around.Other record stores may focus on "alternative" forms and genres from mainstream music, but Sit and Spin is almost specifically dedicated to all forms of Punk, Hardcore, Ska, and Indie/Emo music. It’s certainly an underappreciated gem around here that deserves some attention. Get out there ASAP.
Home of the Hits

Buffalo, NY 14222

When it comes finding rock & roll music, as far as I am concerned, Home of the Hits(HOTH) is the best record store in the city of Buffalo. The store also offers a decent selection of hip-hop, electronic, industrial, indie, local, and gothic music. The business prides itself on a great selection and excellent service. What separates Home of the Hits from other record stores is that it has the best selection of quality used rock & roll CD’s and vinyl. If it’s rock you are looking for, HOTH is your store. Not only is the new CD section superb, but the store will order anything you desire if they don’t already have it in stock. Special orders take anywhere from three to five days, which is fast compared to some stores, where it can take up to a month (e.g. Media Play.) While Home of the Hits’ prices may not be the lowest in town, it does offer a Student Advantage card discount.
World Wide Music & Video Games
3100 Main Street
Buffalo, NY 14214

World Wide Music & Video Games is a great music store. I have been shopping there for the past seven years. They have the largest selection of used CD’s that I have seen anywhere. It is extremely easy to find what you’re looking for in the used sections. As far as price, World Wide has the cheapest used CD’s (tied with Record Theatre). World Wide also has the best selection of cassette tapes, which is helpful for those who still only have tape decks in their cars. The store has a strong selection of new CD’s, but very often is limited to new releases. The CD selection consists mainly of, but is not limited to, rock, rap, and electronic. Of course, as the name of the store suggests, you can buy video games as well. Hands down, World Wide is the best store in the city of Buffalo when it comes to finding used video games. Prices are extremely cheap; I saw a used Dreamcast Soul Calibur for only fifteen bucks—now that’s cheap! Any time you shop at World Wide, you will be pleased, as I have never had any complaints with the store or service. Unfortunately, World Wide does not offer a student discount.
