God bless the Foos. Not only have they consistently produced some of the kookiest music videos (that MTV will play, at least), but their music doesn't suck either. Nothing Left is chock full of recognizable radio tunes like the relentless "Generator," quietly pretty "Next Year," and "Breakout," which gleefully revels in full-on Fooeyness. The remainder of the album is a memorable mix of tunes both pissed off and wistful, from "Stacked Actor"'s condemnation of The Beautiful People, to "M.I.A."'s sad tale of leavin' town. It's a pretty darn good disc, though I'm not sure if I would call it the Best Rock Album of the Year. Maybe voters were won over by the totally bitchin' temporary Foo tattoo that comes in the liner notes. God knows I would have been.
